Weekend Online Retreat

A Foundation in Nonviolent Communication (NVC)

Take your first steps in learning NVC. Take time over one weekend to explore the potential of Nonviolent Communication to transform your relationships both at home and at work.

  • Are you stuck repeating patterns, getting angry or paralysed by an inner critic?
  • Or do you have something to bring the world but no one is listening?
  • Feeling hopeless about change?

Nonviolent Communication offers a way to radically reshape how we interact, work and live together. Used around the world in families, boardrooms, in schools and anywhere we are in conflict, large or small. NVC is a deceptively simple process and takes practice to master. Never learnt alone, communities of practitioners have grown globally for support, feedback and to build projects which inspire and give hope that a different way is possible.

This training will combine exercises and space to reflect in small groups with additional explorations to do on your own over the weekend and beyond.

This will be a supportive, gentle space to learn using your own examples, a chance to slow down and truly integrate so you can start using the skills right away.

This training will support you to:

Uncover our common habits which block our communication
Discover new ways to express yourself with clarity, power and with care
Explore empathy as a way to connect and disrupt stuck patterns
Build a self-empathy practice for self-compassion and healing in any moment

Suitable for those new to Nonviolent Communication, those wanting a refresher or to deepen their understanding

Trainer: Shona Cameron Certified Trainer and Assessor

Shona is a psychologist, coach, and mentor and is known for her presence and clarity that supports people to find depth and integration, which she believes arises from a radical acceptance of oneself.

She began exploring Nonviolent Communication in 2003, learning from both Marshall Rosenberg and trainers around the world. Shona became a Certified Trainer in 2006 and an Assessor in 2016, currently working with English Speaking European Assessor Team.

Recognising NVC’s potential for personal and social change, Shona told the head of schools where she worked that if teachers really knew the power of being in touch with their own needs, they may decide never to come back. “Great,” the person said, “then we’ll have the teachers who really want to be here.” Inspired, she brought Nonviolent Communication into spaces where no one knew what she was doing.

Shona authored a chapter in the book, Restorative Theory in Practice: Insights into What Works and Why and runs an online community called Words are Windows. One of her favourite learning methods is the NVC Dance Floors, which offer an embodied yet simple way to integrate NVC into our daily lives. Learn more about Shona.
