Mourning is a self empathy process which lies at the heart of NVC consciousness.

Mourning enhances our capacity to meet potentially stressful situations with a self connected presence, and a compassionate open heart, so that at any moment we are empowered to have the choice to respond with care and consideration (to self or the other) instead of with judgement and blame.

Practicing mourning is a process of acknowledgment and acceptance, both to our mental judgements and our tangible reactions. It entails feeling into how we are touched and acknowledging the values behind our response with an energy of compassion and open curiosity. It asks for a deep listening to the yearning for which the body speaks in its tangible language, and a trust that it is simply attempting to meet beautiful life enriching needs.

Rik Midgley is a certified trainer of Nonviolent Communication, who has been practicing Vipassana meditation for 29 years, and has incorporated NVC consciousness into his Self Connection Qigong, a physical awareness process.

Places on the workshop are limited to 10 to maintain a sense of intimacy. Booking is essential, a fee of £20 is asked to reserve a place. In addition there is a sliding scale for the day of £10 - £80. My longing here is that this work is to be available to all, regardless of financial situation, while meeting my own needs to be financially sustainable. Please choose an amount which is sweet for you. You are invited to bring food to share for a vegetarian pot-luck lunch, and asked to arrive 10 minutes early so that we can begin promptly. Please note that there may be a number of dogs in the kitchen.

Please send me an email if you wish to attend, and transfer the deposit into my account with your name as reference.
