A Foundation Level Training on Zoom
The Princess, the Dragon and the Alchemy of the Inner Critic.
“Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love.”
Rainer Maria Rilke
This weekend NVC course covers
The basics of NVC practice and principles as inspired by founder Marshall Rosenberg. Whether more or no experience, this will enhance, deepen or introduce you to this inspiring, wonderful, life-changing approach to living and connecting.
How would it be to communicate through and beyond any disempowering patterns to really connect – even through difficult conversations?
How would it be for you to feel resourceful around criticism and blame, to respond creatively and spaciously without being overwhelmed?
Imagine being able to communicate your needs & to listen for others needs with more empathy, keeping the connection & harmony?
What is Nonviolent Communication?
‘NVC is a learnable, practical way to bring empathy, honesty, strength and compassion into our personal and professional relationships.’ NVC-UK
It is a way of authentic and natural expression, inspiring confidence and clarity, and deeper connections with others that are enjoyable and satisfying, especially through difficulty.
This course covers:
- A vision of NVC: What would make your life more wonderful, meaningful, and heartfelt?
- The purpose of Nonviolent Communication and the importance of intention
- Develop skills in grounded unshakability: Grounded Aware Presence.
- The importance of compassionate self-connection in relation to the inner critic.
- What is Empathy ….really? How does this differ from just hearing or listening?
- Distinguishing between thoughts as feelings – inspiring connection, and not distance and isolation
- Appreciating of the language of needs – deeper values – and how this is deeply uniting.
- Learn how to make requests, and to be creative and humane around receiving a ‘No’
- Learn flexibility and choice in how we respond to any situation that triggers strong emotions for resolution and connection.
How does the training work?
Fun, play, safety, small group meetups, plenaries, interactive, emergent, exciting, community together-orientated and totally live is my style. There is plenty of room to process – there will be conscious pauses to breathe and settle, to saviour the experience and deepen connection – and enjoy connecting and learning in an easy and relaxed way, with some role play and tom-foolery puppetry!
A unique hallmark of this NVC Training: Unshakable Presence
This approach is a distillation of the three paradigms of Mindfulness, Focusing and Nonviolent Communication creating a powerful synergy that facilitates an exquisite inner relationship and an ability to come from a grounded awareness for deep, resilient and creative connection for an unshakable Presence. We are true in this training to the spirit and letter of Nonviolent Communication.
Your facilitator Simon ‘K2’ McKibbin
Simon, also known as K2, is an experienced trainer and coach, and a Buddhist practitioner of 30 years. He teaches and is affiliated with the University of Cambridge, the Mindfulness in Schools Project, Breathworks (Mindfulness and Pain Management), the Centre for Nonviolent Communication, and the British Focusing Association.
“Every part within us has it’s own healing mechanism and knows it’s own rightness,” (Gene Gendlin) We just need to know how to hold and be available to these parts in a safe and supportive way, and, as if by magic, the fresh edge will flow into it’s newness – it is the essential connection to build both inner and outer community.

What participants are saying
‘I feel more connected to myself and the world around me in quite a magical way. I have started to find ways to be with my experience in more openness, to be more curious and accepting and to be more grounded. The sessions felt very spontaneous and alive creating a space of safety, openness with a light and playful touch, that we moved more deeply into together. Simon is deeply humane and highly skilled.’
Laurent Dubois
‘Massive thanks for the NVC, helping me tremendously. I Probably had 10 phone calls today where I managed to remain connected to my needs, keeping connected to others through some tricky conversations. In being able to be so honest, it is allowing more softness in my body – I am able to be clear and have less tension in the stomach, being forthright and open. Massive thanks to you and NVC!’
