NVC Embodied Mediation: When Worlds Collide
Navigate conflict gracefully, de-escalate tension, create safe, confident presence
The philosopher Karl Jaspers observed that conflict, while it can lead to defeat and limitation, can also be a source of greater depth in living — the birth of expansive unities that thrive in the very tensions conflict generates. This course is built on that possibility.
I believe conflict doesn’t have to mean rupture. I’ve seen it, again and again — in mediation rooms, in couples’ living rooms, in my own difficult conversations — that the moment we’re most tempted to brace or withdraw is often the exact moment something new wants to be born between us. That’s not a comforting idea to me; it’s something I’ve come to trust because I’ve watched it happen.
NVC is a practical, learnable approach to infusing empathy, honesty, strength, and compassion into personal and professional relationships. Over four weeks together on Zoom, I’ll walk with you as we build a stable foundation for communication, skills to navigate conflict with empathy, and tools to create a safe, confident presence — whether the conflict is internal, between two people, or between many.
Develop an embodied capacity you can bring into the moment when it matters most.
The Three Doorways — Rolling, Start Anywhere
This course is part of a rolling trilogy. Each stands alone, but completing all three qualifies you for a Level 1 Foundation NVC certification recognised by CNVC — and you can begin with any of the three.
Doorway One — NVC Empathy in Presence: Empathy as embodied presence — deep connection, resilience, trust
Doorway Two — NVC Authentic & Sensitive Expression: Express heartfelt needs clearly and authentically, strengthen connection
Doorway Three — NVC Embodied Mediation: When Worlds Collide: Navigate conflict gracefully, de-escalate tension, create safe, confident presence (this course)

What Participants Are Saying
“Learning about NVC with Simon is a delight! His warm, playful energy and teaching through doing builds connection and confidence. This is not another training by PowerPoint online after a long day at work. It is meaningful, engaging and practical. He breaks down the key concepts of NVC and helps us nurture and love our jackal. I feel more in touch with what needs are and how to articulate them to others. I’m excited to continue my NVC journey and continue to build my communication skills.”
