“Think about your intentionality - are you getting lost in the method or coming from the intentionality, the purpose? You don’t want to do the mechanics without the consciousness.”
“I developed NVC as a way to train my attention - to shine the light of consciousness - on places that have the potential to yield what I am seeking.”
Quotes from Marshall Rosenberg, founder of Nonviolent Communication (NVC)
Intention and attention are fundamental to your NVC practice, and make a huge difference to outcomes, yet they are harder to name, to develop and to maintain than the skills of communicating about observations, feelings, needs and requests. And they are not often explored in a workshop. When connecting with yourself and other people, do you make conscious choices about your intention and attention? We became curious about this theme a couple of years ago, and have dived deeply into it, reading, exploring and experimenting. We created this workshop to develop awareness about what place intention and attention have in the practice of NVC, the different levels of intention, and the significance of our choices about how we focus our attention. Some of the topics we will explore together:- What is intention
- What intentions do you choose
- How can you most effectively activate this intention
- What makes attention so powerful
- What do you give your attention to
- Where do you give your attention from
- Expand the dimensions of how you understand and apply NVC
- Awaken your own insights about the topics we will be exploring
- Develop increased clarity and capability in how you use intention and attention in your NVC practice, and in your life
- Be more powerful in creating the quality of relationships you want, and the world you want to live in
