Two Egrets fighting over fishing rights.

We’ve all found ourselves stuck in conflict, wishing the other person would just see things our way. It’s frustrating, and sometimes even painful, when they don’t. We try different strategies—some of us withdraw, others lash out, and some of us try to force change in the other person in other ways. Yet, even when it feels like we “win” and the other person does “what we want”, the victory is often hollow, soon leaving us with more pain and dissatisfaction.

Here’s the good news: while we can’t control other people’s behavior, we can transform how we respond to conflict. By changing how we think, what we believe, and how we approach ourselves in these moments, we can create more room for compassion, connection, and understanding—even in the face of disagreement, tension or intense emotions.

Our 5-week course, Conflict and You, is designed to help you do just that.

In this course, we’ll explore:

  • What pulls us into conflict and how these dynamics unfold.
  • The intense emotions and thoughts that fuel disconnection, such as anger, shame, or avoidance.
  • Why societal norms, like “redemptive violence” or punishment, only deepen conflict rather than resolve it.
  • New strategies to move away from judgment, blame, and fear, and toward compassion and mutual understanding.

Through role-plays, exercises, and discussions, you’ll practice these alternatives in a safe, supportive space. We’ll work together to understand how our nervous system, emotions, and bodies contribute to our reactions. By recognizing and releasing the energy tied up in conflict, you’ll begin to see more clearly what’s happening within yourself and how to respond with gentleness and compassion.

Ultimately, this course is about building the tools and perspective to move away from unhelpful conflict spirals and toward healthier, more authentic relationships. Conflict doesn’t have to be a battle; it can be an opportunity for growth, connection, and deeper understanding.

If you’re ready to transform how you approach conflict and develop more compassionate relationships, we invite you to join us.
