This is a 5-week course for people wanting to develop a compassionate, systemic, lens and consciousness. It offers a road map to move beyond a story of separation, towards a new togetherness in our relationships and the world.

28th Feb, 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th March 2023, 6pm to 8:30pm UK time
Unlearn the mechanisms of the dominant system we have inherited, internalised, and continue to reproduce…where I make people the problem and see myself or others wrong… in order to express authentically my part and connect empathically to how you are and look at how we can attend to our interdependent needs and be changed by what we experience together.
In this way we shift from a world of either/or to both/and where there is space for multiple experiences of life and meet life as it is and experience ourselves as part of a living system.
An interdependent needs consciousness, as offered within the Nonviolent Communication (NVC) framework, underpins the work we do at OpenEdge. We bring our particular flavour to NVC focusing on bringing a systemic lens to our personal experiences and looking at how the principles of NVC support system change as well as resonance and connection.
During this course, you will: • Understand and apply Nonviolent Communication skills and capacities• Learn and practice tools to express yourself with power and authenticity• Build a capacity to receive others fully, and with resonance and empathy, even when you disagree• Focus on impact – internally, interpersonally and systemically• Experience difference as enriching rather than threatening
OpenEdge Transforming Conflict registered as a UK charity in 2017 because we wanted to share a different approach to conflict, peace, identity politics, justice and development, where relationship is key to transforming violent systems and beliefs.
The course will be facilitated by Sophie Docker from OpenEdge, who is a certified trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication and Restorative practitioner registered with Restorative Justice Council. Sophie has many years experience working with organisations and individuals in the field of change, conflict and communication.
