Camp intention Our intention is to create an environment where people can come together in community, where people feel safe and able to make requests and offers to meet their own and others needs. Everybody welcome The camp is for people with all ranges of experience of NVC, from no experience to Certified Trainers. All ages welcome The camp normally attracts a range of people; adults of all ages, some who come alone and some with friends or partners, and some with children (whether they be aged 1 or 41) Community led camp We have a daily community gathering where there will be a chance to discuss issues affecting the community, and hear requests and offerings from anybody in the community, these could be for workshops, one to one spaces, games, music, dancing etc. Space for young people We will continue our tradition of inviting the children/young people to speak first in the community gathering, as they often struggle to be heard in comparison to adults. Space to learn On a typical day at camp there will normally be two allocated times for workshops, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Normally there will be a range of workshops offered in each time slot, as well as other activities e.g. art, games, cooking etc. The workshops offered will be based on what has been requested and offered in the morning gathering, and can vary from structured sessions to informal gatherings. Space to rest Many people choose not to take part in a workshop or activity, and we welcome that choice, you may prefer to spend time relaxing, going for a walk, or just hanging out with other people. Space to be Heard A key tradition of the camp is empathy groups, groups of 5 or 6 people that meet every day to listen and give empathy to each other. We would like to ensure that we emphasise choice for all. The main organiser of the camp is Barney Phillips. Certified NVC trainers Sinhaketu and Clare Palmer will be there to hold workshop spaces and support the camp; other trainers are also expected and their names will be added. Practical Information This year's camp is at a new site, Top Farm, Marsham, Norfolk, where we will be on our own private field complete with toilets, showers etc, and a small barn for indoor activities and recreation room with a sound system for musical activities. We will have a marquee and several large tents for community gathering and workshops etc. There is a large open camping area where people can pitch their tents, or set up caravans or campervans. For those who don't want to camp there are a number of wooden cabins with beds in, or the option to hire a gypsy caravan. The central gathering point of the camp will be the area in front of the Sunrise Cafe, this is where people will eat their meals and hang out, and is also where we will have the camp fire. We will have a fully equipped kitchen and provide 3 meals a day, and an area where you can make hot drinks - a range of tea, coffee, herbal and fruit teas, and milk (including vegan options) will be provided.
