We Welcome Two New Directors to NVC Matters

Back in September, after Barry Jones decided it was time for him to step back from being a director, we shared that we were seeking two directors to become custodians of our community organisation and join our remaining founding director, Penny Spawforth. We sought people who felt deeply aligned with NVC consciousness and who would hold the responsibility with integrity and care. In November last year, we warmly welcomed Andrea and Barney to our community and would like to take this chance to celebrate and share a little more about them.

Barney Phillips

Barney has volunteered for us for many years and has done some key work to make NVC Matters what it is. Through Barney’s application to become a director, it was clear to see that he would be bringing deep care and understanding of the principles of NVC and a commitment to bring them to those he interacts with. Barney has been a leader in many life roles and naturally moves towards conflicts, utilising NVC consciousness. He has years of experience arranging Rainbow Mill NVC Camps and also brings a wealth of learning from this. When asked about his vision and mission for the community, he shared;

“I want to enable other people to find and use NVC, I believe that if everybody was more connected with themselves, and their feelings and needs, everybody would benefit, conflicts could be resolved more easily, we would stop destroying the environment as part of ineffective strategies to keep ourselves happy and actually focus on the underlying needs which are probably more easily met. I can’t imagine where I, or my children, would be if I hadn’t found NVC, and I would love for others to have the same benefits – whatever their current situation”.

Andrea Vettorino

Andrea joined our organisation in 2024 as part of our website circle. From his experience as an NVC certification candidate, he brings with him the importance of growing within a community, and he sees stepping into this role as a natural evolution.

He is inspired by the possibility of living and contributing to a culture of shared power and feedback that extends beyond our internal team to the wider network.

“My hope is to cultivate an open exchange approach that ensures NVC Matters remains deeply aligned with its mission: staying at the service of the emerging needs of the NVC community across the UK.”

Andrea looks forward to hearing from you and is open to connection, sharing ideas, or co-creation.

We are excited to see what 2026 brings for our team and wider NVC community. Please join us in celebrating this next phase!
