Requests in a Squeeze: Asking when it’s tough to do so

You know what you need, you’ve even managed to express it…. Then what?
“It might come out all in a mess? What on earth do I ask for?? I can’t think!!! “
Too often we wait to get NVC right!
A vital part of our practise is to request ‘that which would make life more wonderful’ yet it’s the piece that often gets lost as we fade away! We want to stay in dialogue, yet get overwhelmed ourselves.
An exploration in what gets in the way of being able to find the words, what words we could use EVEN when we are anxious, fearful, overwhelmed….etc. So we can stay in connection and build dialogue.
When we get in a squeeze the Request Falls away….We will explore how to Bring Power Back to this part of NVC.
A live and interactive workshop, with small break out spaces and time for reflection and questions.
Suitable for anyone who considers they have a basic grounding in Needs and listening as practised in Nonviolent Communication spaces.
There will be input + practise to support integration.
This series of workshops have been set up by Shona and Sandrine in order to support those wishing to explore in depth what NVC can bring to our lives and how we can expand our practice and grow. They can be taken as one off event for your learning or taken as a series. We ask for £40/ session to support us to do this work- this is our full time job- this we consider to be a ‘donation’ rate during COVID times. As always, we are open to hearing if money is a barrier to you.

Shona Cameron is an educational psychologist and has been a certified trainer in Nonviolent Communication (NVC) since 2006. She was often the only person in the room who knew about NVC in her role, proving that one conversation can shift a situation from conflict to connection. Shona trained with Marshall Rosenberg in Switzerland and was part of a team that bought him to the UK in 2007.
Shona is now a trainer full time and has led training in South Korea, Poland, France, Finland and Ireland enjoying the role as Trainer for Trainers and supporting people from all walks of life, leaders, mediators, parents and teachers and exploring the universality of NVC. She is known for facilitating with clarity, humour and warmth. Happily she cannot decide what to specialise in and so works as an Assessor in the English Speaking European Assessor Team.

Sandrine Miesch: NVC Trainer in Training. I was a Primary School Teacher, Trainer and Mentor for teachers in training, Advisor in pedagogy and didactics when I got pulled into the world of NonViolent Communication, thanks to one of my pupils who told me:” teachers are violent” while I was helping him during an exercise. I was shocked and questioned myself: “Was I violent, was my way of communicating violent?”, so confusing, my intention was genuinely to help him. I went to my first NVC training for Educators 10 days later and after two hours I told myself: “I want to spread and share this “stuff”. It has been a life-changing adventure
